Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and SnapSubtitles ("we," "us," or "our"), governing your use of the SnapSubtitles platform at https://snapsubtitles.com and all related services (the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. If you are under the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, a parent or legal guardian must consent to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to notify us at support[at]snapsubtitles.com of any unauthorized access.

Use of Services

SnapSubtitles is an AI-powered tool for generating, editing, and burning subtitles into video. Video processing runs entirely in your browser using WebCodecs. Audio transcription is performed server-side through third-party speech recognition services.

The free tier is limited to 720p export, videos of ten (10) minutes or shorter, and requires desktop Chrome or Edge version 120 or newer for video export. Other supported browsers may still download SRT or VTT subtitle files.

You may use the Service for any lawful personal or commercial purpose. You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service.
• Access the Service through bots, scrapers, or automated means other than the provided interfaces.
• Circumvent security, rate-limiting, or access-control features.
• Use the Service to process infringing, unlawful, or harmful content, or to violate any applicable law.

Purchases and Payments

The Service offers subscription plans and credit-based purchases. Pricing is described on our pricing page and may change with reasonable notice.

Payments are processed through third-party processors including Stripe and PayPal. You are responsible for providing accurate billing information.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time through your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. No prorated refunds are issued unless required by applicable law. Refund requests are evaluated case by case. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

Content Ownership

The Service, its software, design, trademarks, and original content are owned by or licensed to us and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

You retain full ownership of the videos you upload and the outputs you create, including exported videos, subtitle files, and transcription text. We claim no ownership over your content or outputs.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use, transcribe, edit, and export your content. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide the Service (for example, extracting audio for transcription). We do not store or redistribute your video files; video processing occurs in your browser.

Termination

You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support[at]snapsubtitles.com. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Locally stored project data in your browser remains under your control. Sections on content ownership, liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.

Privacy and Third-Party Services

Our collection and use of personal data are governed by our Privacy Policy. We comply with the GDPR and CCPA where applicable.

Video files are processed in your browser. We do not upload, store, or access your video content on our servers. Audio extracted for transcription is transmitted to our server and forwarded to third-party speech recognition providers. We do not use your content or outputs to train AI models.

The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services, including payment processors and transcription providers. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of third-party services.

Disclaimers and Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ACCURACY OF RESULTS.

AI-generated transcriptions depend on audio clarity, speaker accents, background noise, and third-party service availability. We do not guarantee any specific transcription accuracy. You are responsible for reviewing all output before use.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the date above and notifying registered users through the Service or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, stop using the Service and close your account.

Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the Company is established. Disputes shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within thirty (30) days, either party may pursue resolution in any court of competent jurisdiction. Nothing here limits your statutory consumer protection rights.
