Why we built this
The tools available for that job force a bad trade. Desktop editors are heavy, expensive, and overkill for adding text to a clip. Online caption tools ask you to upload your entire video to their servers, wait in their processing queue, and trust them to delete your footage afterwards.
Modern browsers removed the need for that trade. A browser tab can now decode, render, and re-encode video on your own hardware. SnapSubtitles keeps the entire editing pipeline on your device. The only thing that reaches our servers is a compressed audio track for transcription.
What happens to your video
No marketing language in this section. This is the actual data path, and it matches our Privacy Policy.
Audio only, for transcription only
The editor extracts a compressed audio track and sends only that to the speech-to-text service that generates your captions. There is no server-side file storage.
Projects live in your browser
Captions and styles are saved to your browser's local storage. Close the tab and the video is gone from memory; your caption project stays on your device until you clear it.
You are the customer, not the product
Revenue comes from subscriptions and minute packs. There is no venture capital, no ads on this site, and we do not sell your data.
What we believe
Free means usable
The free plan includes the full editor: real AI transcription, every caption style, and video export. Paid plans add higher resolution, subtitle file downloads, and remove the watermark.
No lock-in
Your output is a standard MP4, SRT, or VTT file that works in YouTube Studio, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or any player. Leave anytime and take everything with you.
